this has been a blog post

The latest in my moody dorm room photobooth selfies.
Woah, hello. It's currently four a.m. but I have decided on a whim to revive this very short-lived blog. I started by posting two drafts that I had already made last winter, as seen below. They are dumb. Don't read them. (Edit: yeah, i deleted those again. shhhhhhh)

Where to begin, where to begin?? This is a very familiar feeling to me. Every time I would try to keep a journal in high school I would go months without writing and then feel guilty and stressed about trying to remember everything and give a complete update on my life. I haven't written a damn thing that hasn't been assigned to me since starting college, save for a letter here and a playlist description there. Wait, does this blog even know about PCP? The website, not the drug?? This blog is ancient-ish.

Anyway, I keep feeling that I should be journaling and blogging and taking more pictures because college!!!! life!!!!! experiences!!! making friends!!!!! being an independent woman (aka eating ice cream on the daily)!!!!!!!!!

I've been living in Minneapolis for over a month now, but I have such a warped sense of time. It feels like forever but also everything still seems kind of new? I'm not sure how to explain it properly because I'm not even sure how I really feel. It's just weird. That's what I keep saying. I visited my hometown for the first time last weekend and it was so strange. I haven't been homesick and I'm glad to be living in a city and leaving my hometown behind, but I do miss my house and my parents and my dog. It was gorgeous while I was there. All of the trees in my yard were changing colors and that Saturday was the most perfect kind of day, weather-wise. It was the only really solid day of fall, though. Today was the first cold day and apparently it's supposed to snow, which is v v v v depressing to me because one day of autumn is not enough.

This has been the longest/strangest month of my life thus far. It's also been weirdly kind of a non-event? But also everything is an event in itself? Weird weird weird. It's like I did next to nothing for all of high school and am making up for it now by having new life experiences at least once a week.

After my parents helped me move in and headed back to my hometown, I was invited by Megan to go out for malts with her and her roommate and a group of other people who live in our residence hall. I had sent her a fb message over the summer after seeing her on the facebook group for my college and she recognized me when I was moving in and now she's one of my closest friends that I've made since I moved. I probably would've been v lost and afraid and confused and alone in the world if she hadn't invited me to get malts on my first night!

oh hello

The first and probably only football game I'll go to this year. I went with Logan, who I met during orientation in August, and Natalie, who lives down the hall from me. We stayed for about fifteen minutes, but I got into the school spirit anyway.

I wandered around with Megan and two of my other friends, Aidan and Luca, after we went to see Boyhood.

I think I may have effectively tricked some cool U of M people into being friends with me, including the lovely @foxinater ๐Ÿ’˜๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŒต

We went to a rap show called The Fucking Best Show Ever and it was amazing and I'm obsessed with Allan Kingdom now. I'm standing by my super cool roommate Lamia.

The east wing of my res hall lookin' super attractive.

Megan playing her uke late at night on the lil stoop we like to loiter around.

Lamia and I at a sรฉance that we hosted. The dress code was supposed to be "feminist bookstore" and we built a shrine and burned incense. We are very theatrical.

I met up with Marshall while I was visiting home and we bought candy and arizonas and sat at a bench next to a tiny lake in my hometown and burned things with the tiny yellow lighter that he keeps in his pocket at all times.
